Description
He has made the city small enough to own.
Once a utilities magnate, the Smoke King commissioned a machine that could compress entire districts into portable sources of heat and electricity. During its first activation, the machine fused with him, leaving a working city enclosed within his chest.
His power, Cinder Tenancy, draws buildings marked by his soot into that miniature domain, where he controls their light, heat, and connection to the outside world. Fresh rain can wash away those marks before a building is taken. His wire throne grounds the immense charge required to maintain the enclosure; sever that connection, and his stolen properties begin returning to their original scale.
In this portrait, he sits squarely in the street, his enormous frame occupying the narrow passage between dark buildings. Rain streaks past his fedora and gathers on the shoulders of a ruined pinstripe suit. His curled moustache retains a meticulous elegance, even as his face and hands crumble into charcoal textures. Thick smoke folds around his collar, spills across his knees, and rises behind him in a towering black mass.
The throne is a tangle of wires, bent metal, and electrical insulators—exposed infrastructure arranged into a seat of power. His heavy hands rest above its arms with the composure of a man expecting someone else to explain themselves.
At the center of his body, an illuminated skyline glows through an oval opening. Tiny towers stand beneath drifting smoke, their warm windows sharply defined against his dark bulk. Outside, the full-sized street is cold and wet. Inside, the captured city still has electricity. He keeps its lights on, and the controls within reach.
