Description
The neighborhood’s warmth is being held somewhere inside her armor.
Iskavelle began as an engineer designing preservation chambers for fragile artifacts. Years spent protecting objects from decay convinced her that change itself was the enemy. She developed a wearable version of her technology and extended her authority from museum collections to entire city blocks, preserving them without permission.
Her ability, Thermal Sequestration, draws heat from nearby surfaces into crystalline reservoirs built throughout her silver armor. Movements of her hands determine where temperatures fall and how available moisture forms into ice. Those reservoirs have a limit: as they fill, her joints stiffen until she risks becoming immobilized inside her own suit. She must eventually release what she has taken. Dry air also restricts the ice she can create.
In this artwork, Iskavelle stands close enough for the viewer to study the frost caught in her dark braids. Pale strands sweep back from her forehead, framing blue eyes that hold an unwavering gaze. A slight smile gives her expression the unsettling assurance of someone who considers the outcome settled.
Both hands are raised, fingers spread around sharp clusters of growing ice. Fine crystals scatter through the vapor surrounding her palms. The formations extend the angular design of her costume: triangular silver frameworks cross her shoulders, translucent spikes rise along their edges, and polished bands frame smooth white panels patterned with faint hexagons.
Behind her, icicles hang in long rows from the buildings. Snow weighs down parked cars and blankets the street, softening the ordinary outlines of a neighborhood brought to a standstill. A few windows retain their amber glow. Iskavelle’s immaculate white silhouette stands against that frozen backdrop, presenting her power with almost conversational ease—as though returning the heat were simply a matter of reaching an agreement.
