Description

Before the night the prairie opened beneath him, VELTHRYX was an ordinary man with an extraordinary sensitivity to changes in the atmosphere—something he had always dismissed as instinct. During a once-in-a-lifetime electrical storm, an unknown energy rose from deep within the earth at the exact moment a massive atmospheric discharge struck from above. He survived between the two forces, but what emerged was no longer entirely bound by either.
VELTHRYX possesses Convergence, the ability to become a temporary living junction between naturally separated forms of energy. Rather than simply producing lightning or controlling weather, his body can draw incompatible energies toward one another, briefly combine them, and release the resulting force through himself. The crystalline structures that form around him are physical remnants of these convergences—matter altered by energies that were never meant to occupy the same space.
This artwork captures the first violent manifestation of that power. Alone among fields of ripened wheat, VELTHRYX stands beneath a sky torn apart by lightning, rain, and sweeping green auroras. A brilliant core ignites inside his chest as turquoise, violet, gold, and electric-blue currents race through his body.
The transformation spreads beyond him. Crystalline formations explode from the ground around his feet while the earth fractures into glowing seams. Debris rises into the charged air, pieces of his dark clothing and silhouette appear to disintegrate into the storm, and an enormous twisting column of multicolored energy climbs from his body toward the clouds.
Everything in the scene converges upon a single human figure—the electricity above, the energy below, the shattered ground, and the luminous sky. This is not VELTHRYX demonstrating a power he has mastered.
It is the moment he discovers he has become its conduit.
