When The Red Moon Hunts

Price range: $36.00 through $1,090.00

A crimson-clad vampire watches from a Gothic balcony as a massive werewolf charges through rain-slick streets beneath a blood-red moon. Her untroubled gaze leaves the creature’s purpose—and her role in the hunt—deliberately uncertain.

Description

High above the streets, she watches. Far below, something has begun to hunt.
When the Red Moon Hunts unfolds across a sprawling Gothic city caught in a night that seems determined to become something worse. From an ornate stone balcony, a mysterious vampire dressed in deep crimson surveys the streets with an unsettling calm. Rain beads against the ancient architecture around her, while the red glow in her eyes echoes the enormous moon burning through the clouds beyond.
Below, the city has become a maze of wet cobblestones, steep rooftops, narrow passages, and glowing windows disappearing into fog. Lightning fractures the horizon between distant cathedral spires as hundreds of bats scatter across the turbulent sky.
Then the eye reaches the street.
A massive werewolf charges through the mist, its dark fur soaked by the storm and its amber eyes fixed ahead. Clawed hands strike the pavement as it moves between tightly packed buildings, dwarfing the empty carts and structures around it. Whether it has been released, summoned, pursued—or is simply answering an instinct awakened by the crimson moon—is deliberately left unresolved.
That uncertainty connects the two halves of the artwork. The woman never appears frightened by what is happening below. She does not flee the balcony or call for help. She simply watches as though the storm, the bats, the creature, and perhaps even the moon itself are proceeding exactly as expected.
Somewhere beneath those rooftops, the city is still awake.
It just doesn’t know the hunt has already begun.

Countess Ilvane keeps a ledger of every red moon for the past two hundred years. Each entry has three columns: the date, the weather, and the street where her brother came through. He was cursed on the night of their sister's wedding, she was cursed the following spring, and in all that time neither has managed to explain it to the other. So on red-moon nights she opens the balcony doors, ignores the bats, and waits for the sound of claws on the cobblestones. She never calls out. He never looks up. In the morning she writes down the street, underlines it twice, and goes to bed satisfied that he is still keeping their appointment.
