Description
The glassworker recognized a piece of blue high above the ravine. It had taken three firings to achieve that shade, and now it was moving through the shoulder of a wolf. Across the creature’s flank, familiar windows rose and fell with each step. In the tale suggested by Roseglass Canid, the glassworker follows along the ridge, watching years of painstaking work discover a gait of its own.
The wolf advances over fractured rock with one forepaw raised, its immense form articulated in sapphire, violet, emerald, crimson, and honey-gold. Dark seams divide the luminous surfaces into intricate facets, while fine gold ornament follows the brow, ears, and long limbs. Silver-white strands emerge around the cheeks and chest, giving the glass-built anatomy the softness and direction of fur.
Three prominent Gothic window structures occupy its side. Pointed arches and delicate floral tracery frame glowing panes, creating the remarkable impression of spacious interiors within a living silhouette. Along the back, overlapping crystalline points sweep into a jagged mane. The face remains sharply attentive, its golden eyes directed beyond the ledge toward the open valley.
Behind the animal, the tail and hindquarters scatter into bright fragments. Red, blue, green, and yellow birds wheel through the same air, extending the creature’s palette across the sky. Their small wings and the suspended shards make its massive forward movement feel startlingly light. Distant spires and monumental stone arches recede through layers of mist beneath a pale, warming horizon.
The imagined glassworker stops where the ridge ends. Ahead, a forepaw settles onto the next stone, and a familiar amber pane catches the light. For the first time, there is no scaffold from which to inspect it—only the changing view as the wolf continues onward.
