Description
The teddy bear waits beside her on the mossy stone, worn almost to the same soft, weathered texture as her clothes. The girl reaches past it, extending her small fingers toward an open metal gauntlet. Facing her, an armored guardian has lowered himself to her level. His gaze stays on her face, giving this quiet exchange its place among surroundings large enough to overwhelm them both.
An immense dragon bends close above her shoulder. Its head is assembled from overlapping metallic plates, sharp ridges, and intricate structures illuminated from within by brilliant blue energy. That same blue glows at the guardian’s chest. The visual connection makes them feel like companions sharing a purpose, their formidable forms gathered around the child’s tentative gesture.
His armor catches the sunlight along its edges. A compass-shaped emblem crowns one shoulder, while white markings travel down the deep blue fabric of his cape. Long locks, threaded with pale strands, fall forward as he leans toward her. Against all that elaborate workmanship, her bare feet and battered bear remain strikingly ordinary.
Behind them, water tumbles through the broken grandeur of an old stone sanctuary. Roofless arches frame the sky; pink blossoms rise between weathered columns; shallow pools gather beneath the falls. The scene suggests a journey paused at a place worth trusting. Before the girl leaves her seat, there is one small practical matter: someone will have to make room for the bear.
